Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 29 May 2026

The short version

Don't use Precious Hosting to do anything illegal, spammy, malicious, or that endangers other customers' hosting. If you wouldn't be comfortable explaining what you host to a judge or your mum, don't host it here.

Prohibited content & activity

You may not host, store, transmit, or facilitate:

  • Content that is illegal under UK law
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — reported immediately to the National Crime Agency
  • Terrorist content or material promoting violence
  • Malware, viruses, ransomware, exploit kits, or phishing infrastructure
  • Content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights (including pirated software, films, music)
  • Unsolicited bulk email (spam) — both inbound and outbound
  • Open mail relays, open proxies, or other infrastructure typically used for abuse
  • Cryptocurrency mining
  • Content that defames, harasses, or threatens individuals

Resource use

Shared hosting plans are shared. Sustained excessive CPU, memory, or I/O usage that impacts other customers may result in us asking you to upgrade to a more appropriate plan, throttling your account, or — in extreme cases — suspending it.

If your site is growing and you're hitting resource limits, that's good news. Talk to me and we'll right-size your plan.

Email sending

Email hosting is included with every plan and is intended for legitimate business correspondence. Bulk marketing email should go through a dedicated email service provider (Mailchimp, Brevo, etc.), not through your hosting account.

Backups

You're welcome to use Precious Hosting to back up your own files, but the service is not intended as a primary backup target for unrelated data. If you need bulk archive storage, dedicated backup services exist for that.

Enforcement

Where possible, we'll contact you first and ask you to remediate. For serious or repeated breaches, we may suspend or terminate accounts without further notice. Content that endangers others (CSAM, active malware) is removed immediately and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

Reporting abuse

To report abuse hosted on Precious Hosting, email info@precioushosting.co.uk with details. We respond to abuse reports promptly.
